Saturday 18th September
Destination: Home
We’re sad to say it’s the final day of the camper_versions tour. We have a lovely route through the delightful Lune Valley, before we reach home.
We think back to our campervan holiday and realise it’s been an incredible 16 day tour and a completely relaxing time. We’ve had an interesting mix of experiences with the sights we’ve seen and the people we have met.
Plus it’s been achievable with our trusty VW T5, purchased from camper_versions 10 years ago. We’ve had no mechanical problems, we’ve been able to access all the narrow country lanes, which has enabled us to get to those out-of-reach beaches.
It’s actually 3 vehicles in one. We use it daily for work, (plus sometimes shopping) as we can put the seat/bed flat and use it like a van. You can easily get a 10 ft plank in from a DIY shop if needed. We’ve even had a 3-seater sofa in the back once! And of course, it’s a campervan too.
One of the best bits of kit we’ve purchased though, has to be the Eberspacher diesel heater. They are expensive, but worth every penny. You don’t need your engine to run it, or be hooked up to electric. You just choose the target temperature and within a few minutes, it’s throwing out warm air.
When we got soaked on the beach, we returned to the van and propped our boots and clothes next to the heater. After an hour, everything was dry and we continued on our way. It didn’t spoil the day. Plus, you can leave it on all night if you want.
So, we close our Outer Hebrides trip with lots of exciting experiences and plenty of memories made. We hope you’ve enjoyed reading about our trip!
